So, the fine folks at FEDABOA® sent us some samples of their very cool belts. If you take a look at their website, you’ll learn that the idea came from the belts used by divers in the pearl diving industry. That’s where the material and the buckle come from. Leather was too susceptible to the effects of salt water, so the waist belts were made of less porous stuff (the fashion incarnation is made of plastic and rubber). Divers have to be able to get their belts off quickly, so the belts were made so they could be removed with one hand – just as the current model has a quick-release buckle.
That’s the story of the FEDABOA® belt. Now we’ll tell you what we think of the fashion-forward accessories.
Okay, by far this is the most fun product I have road tested so far!! I’m getting ahead of myself, let me start at the beginning. I opened my FedEx package the moment I came home from work yesterday. Once I peeked inside, I wasn’t sure what I was looking at. It was in the most amazing packaging & it was so brightly colored, I had no idea what it could be. I opened it up & finally, the cloak & dagger ended. I had just received a belt. Not just any belt, but a FEDABOA®! It’s a rubber material around the waist & a hard plastic, like polycarbonate, as the hand release buckle. It’s also in a bright, sunny yellow color! It all reminded me of the Swatch wrist watches I used to collect when I was a teenager. It came with one yellow buckle attached & an extra black buckle on the side. To be honest, I was a bit scared of the color. Not that I’m afraid of color, but I’ve never had a belt in any other color other than black or brown. Well I wasn’t going to let bright yellow scare me off. I hunted through my closet to find the perfect thing to wear with it. Success!! I even had a bright yellow head band to help accessorize. I then followed the instructions to make it fit perfectly. Voila! The next morning I got dressed & got myself to the office. My boss says, “looks like you’re wearing our logo colors today, nice.” Well what do you know? I certainly was. He though it looked very 80’s retro. I personally LOVE the 80’s, so I was very pleased. I had a meeting with clients around 2:00pm & asked them what they thought about my new Fedaboa. They complimented me on my fashion sense & thought it was a lot of fun & wanted to touch & feel it. I obliged them, of course. I let them know where they could find the belts on-line & that there were a lot of color options that you can mix & match. They seemed very excited. And so did I, I felt like a trend setter! Ha, me…a trend setter, who would a thunk it? Later in the afternoon I saw both of my nieces, ages 13 & 17. They loved the belt too & have subsequently picked out a couple of colors they want for themselves. My sister, their mother, has agreed to buy them each one, plus another for herself. I watched them squabble over the colors they want most because they would be sharing for now. I couldn’t help but smile. I’ll be picking up a few additional buckles and a classic black Fedaboa in the very near future. I never thought something holding up my pants could be so much fun!
First off, I’m a sucker for packaging. When I opened the box that my new FEDABOA® belt came in, I found that it was nestled inside a clear, hinged, clamshell plastic case. That clear case, the obvious choice for a storage spot for my belt when I’m not wearing it, currently keeps disappearing itself into my husband’s truck. I don’t know what HE wants to do with it, but I want it back! My belt is bright pink. I rarely wear bright pink things, but for some reason this cool, smooth belt was just perfect. Seriously. I’ve looked at the collection area of the website, trying to decide what color to order next, and realize that my very favorite is the one I already have. I wore it the day it arrived, along with my new favorite t-shirt:
See? That’s an awesome belt. I got several compliments on it, and someone even told me they’d just seen these belts in a magazine and had wondered what they looked like in person. Of course, I obliged and did my best model-turn. All in all, I think these are great accessories, and I kind of want a bunch more of them. They beat the heck out of my old studded belts, and they aren’t a hassle to set up. Just arrange where you want it to hit, clip it, clamp it, and you’ve got a perfect-fitting belt. Thank you, FEDABOA®!
There is a good reason this “hip hugger” is in all CAPS. This belt is AWESOME. It’s no wonder a major news publication listed this soon to be hot fashion item in their “Buzz” section. Savvy movers and shakers will surely make this belt the “it” belt for Summer and well into the holiday season. Mine came in “surfer green” but for the layman we could call it Army green. Part of the reason I reference our fine fighting force is because this belt is tough, REAL tough. I bet you could haul a truck with it all while looking like you’re strutting during fashion week in NY. For the super chic there are a variety of interchangeable eye popping belt colors as well as buckle colors. The belt is also “one size fits all” since the buyers can custom cut the belt before wearing it. The belt does come at a premium price but I can assure you it’s well worth it if you want to be talk of the town. The belt is a little wide, so for those divas with small belt loops you might want to rock it like Madonna from the 80′s

Is it hard to make a jewelry organizer, or should I just walk myself into a store and buy one already made.
I’ve seen all sorts of different ideas for organizing jewelry. One that was especially neat involved taking a bulletin board, covering it with velvet or some other displayable fabric, and the using map pins to hold your jewelry. That way your jewelry is on display even when you’re not wearing it!
I cannot remember being more disappointed in Algeria. Could they have lost any faster. I guess I just expected that they had a good chance to do well in this years world cup. I guess I will have to wait. Maybe its time to jump on the Argentina bandwagon. Looks like Demichelis has already scored. Go Argentina. To turn around my day that was ruined by Algeria, I have been listening to some funny jokes.. This one is pretty funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3j7uSbccSc
I had couple of small problems viewing the site in Firefox on the Mac, but I still loved the post.
