egrips – A Product Review

egrips® are another product sent to us by the fine people at Better Ideas, Inc.  So, THANK YOU ANGIE for that hook-up.  The egrip® is a little doodad that you put on the back of your cell phone to keep it from slipping around on your dashboard.  Actually, it would work for any object that you wanted to keep from slipping around on some hard surface.  The non-slippiness comes from what the company calls “The World’s Most Advanced Non-Slip Material.”  It’s a “gecko-like” and patent pending.

The egrip®
Angie’s Review:

So Oprah is telling me I shouldn’t drive & cell phone anymore…sometimes I just can’t help it.  It’s a busy life trying to get everywhere you need to & get everything done in one day, while still finding time to call momma.   I wanna get home, get into my PJ’s & watch TV under my covers, just like everybody else does.  So I went to open the envelope that I had received for the egrip®’s label, hoping it will help me be a bit more hands free in my car.  www.egrips.com

I stuck it to the back of my phone & gave it a try.  It claims to prevent devices from sliding on any surface.  This, I gotta see.  My dash was just thick with dust.  I thought I might clean it off before I tried it out & the instructions said to place it on a clean surface for best results, but I really wanted to give this thing a run for it’s money.  I placed my egrip®ed phone right on top of the grime & took off driving.  The parking lot of my son’s school is in desperate need of repair…I think Ford should use it for road testing their trucks. Low & behold, it didn’t budge from it’s spot.  I even got a call, pressed my speaker button & talked…hands free.  Oprah would be so proud!  Once I got home, it was still there on my dash.  I was shocked, really.  Not bad indeed.  Although, the grip area was coated with dust when I removed it from my dash.  I read a little bit further in the egrip® instructions to make sure I could get it wet to clean it all off.  It said to use my finger to wipe it clean.  What?  I swiped my finger across the area & it was all clear…my finger wasn’t though, but that’s a simple fix.  I’d have to say I’m gonna use this thing until the grip won’t stick anymore & get a replacement.  Cherry on top… I didn’t leave my phone in the car cradle overnight for the umpteenth time.  Very handy.

Micah’s Review:

Ah the egrip®…this one I had to think about for a bit. However when you really think about it you can use this for all kinds of things. I think this item is completely up to the user to integrate this into thier lives. Since I happen to be an avid gamer what struck me were Wii controllers. Anyone who has visited Wiihaveaproblem.com will understand. Once applied the egrip® will give much added traction without leaving a bunch or residue behind (should you want to remove it later) and it won’t irritate your hands or other devices. It’s kind of like magic how it works. Artists that use slanted drafting tables could use it to keep beverages or tools in line or possibly frequent flyers that get irritated when vibration in the plane threatens your business slacks with that in flight coffee. All in all I’m pretty sure the egrip is originally intended for your phone but it’s always cool when your purpose is multi-funtional.

Liz’s Review:

Somehow, I ended up with two of these things.  Angie sent one, and I found another one in a bag of stuff my husband took out of my car.  Huh.  So, of course, I put one on my phone.  I put it on my dashboard.  It stayed.  It stayed when I had to brake hard to avoid hitting the MINIVAN in front of me.  Minivans.  It’s like they come with a little extra instruction manual that tells you how to be the crappiest driver ever.  My phone stayed in place when I almost missed  a turn and took a ridiculously hard left.

For my other egrip® I had other plans.  Since they are totally removable and reusable, I have tried them on remote controls – placing said remote control on books and then flying the book around the room like an airplane to see if the remote control stayed in place.  And it did, even when it did a large and fast loop-de-loop.  Overall, this is a cool product.  Now I kinda want to put one on other items.  Like my toothbrush.
